A Notice from The Commonwealth Resounds

The Commonwealth Dance Relay is a global celebration of culture and creativity, uniting young dancers from across all 56 Commonwealth nations through movement. Initiated by choreographer Shevelle Dynott in collaboration with students from the Royal Ballet School, the relay invites participants to record their own interpretation of a specially composed six-minute dance track — built from musical contributions representing Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Europe, and the Pacific.

Trinidad and Tobago has a direct stake in this initiative. The Caribbean section of the soundtrack was composed by Gerard Coutain, a homegrown talent representing our region on a world stage.

How to Participate

Participation is open to dancers of all styles and skill levels. Entrants may perform solo, in pairs, or as a group — in any location of their choosing. Participants are invited to select a regional motif from the demonstration videos available on the Commonwealth Resounds website, interpret it in their own style, and submit their recording via the official upload form.

Why It Matters

Standout submissions will be considered for invitation to join an international dance ensemble rehearsing in the United Kingdom. Selected participants may perform live at two major global events: the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow (July 2026) and the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHoGM) in Antigua (November 2026).
